Regarding "will it suddenly break if I keep using the old version": It will not suddenly break. The old version of n8n will continue to function, and your existing workflows will not automatically fail just because a new version is released. However, in the long run, the old version will not receive security patches or support for new nodes. If the third-party services you connect to (Google Sheets, LINE, etc.) change their APIs, the nodes in the old version may gradually become incompatible.
It is recommended that you find a time when your workflows are less busy to perform the upgrade, following the previously suggested method: Backup first → Upgrade to the latest 1.x → Then upgrade to 2.x.
